Final Song Choice Song: No Words by Dave Genres: Rap/Grime Record Label: Self-Released Themes: Anger, Disputes For my final song choice, I have chosen No Words by Dave. He is a nineteen-year-old grime artist that has become recently very successful due to collaborations with Drake, AJ Tracey and Giggs. This then launched his career further, allowing him to release his second EP Game Over. Using his own career as inspiration, I would like my music video and ancillary texts to go in this direction. To do this, I will try and show his ambition and progression as an artist through firstly using a child as the face of my magazine advert. This is because it will show his ambition as an aspiring rap star child, such as Lil Wayne and Lil Yachty that have also done this will their albums and adverts. Digipak CD draft
This particular design, which can also be seen on the magazine advert, has taken influence from Kanye West as well as Virgil Abloh. The repetition of text close together has taken inspiration from one of Kanye Wests album called 'Life of Pablo', which uses repeated text is numerous different positions of the front cover, back cover and CD of the digipak. The speech marks used are most commonly found on designs created by Abloh himself, for brands such as Nike and Off-White. They are used to make the audience question the validity of what is in the speech marks, meaning I would like my audience to judge the artist on the quality of song, music video and designs that have been included.
