Artist Development

Image result for AJ Tracey gigAndre Jackson, from Bexley, South London who entered the Grime scene at the early age of 16. His conscious lyrical style made Andre sound well beyond his years and this is shown in huge amounts in ‘How I Met My Ex’. He took cues from his older brothers on how to develop and progress growing up, inspired to pursue art in different forms. He initially started with animation, which eventually led him to playing the piano, meaning he settled on becoming a Grime MC. Unfortunately, he suffered badly when both his older brothers ended up serving lengthy prison sentences, meaning he buried deeper into the music to cope with this drastic altercation. Although this negative situation didn’t treat Andre, he was able to develop a social aware form of wordplay, which set him apart from other Grime MC’s. After his brother’s sentences, his first music video was ‘JKYL+HYD’, showing Andre wanted the reputation of speaking about deep subject matters and using ambitious lyrics. However, his most noticed moment in music is when he performed on Charlie Booth’s ‘Fire in the Booth’ on BBC Radio 1. This allowed Andre to enforce standout collaborations with West London’s up and coming star AJ Tracey on ‘Thiago Silva’. This release was a success in his own right, but this was followed by his first EP ‘Six Paths’ which was dropped in September 2015. Nevertheless, arguably his most noticed piece of music was the collaboration with Drake on ‘Wanna Know’, which caught over 45 million listeners on Spotify and counting.

His music career may be short compared to a lot of artists, but he has a lot more to give with his latest EP ‘The Art of Ambition’ featuring songs such as ‘No Words’, perhaps showing a different side to Andre Jackson…
